IBD – inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) It affects millions of people around the world and is incurable. CBG reduces inflammation associated with inflammatory bowel disease. In an experimental animal study conducted in 2013, a beneficial effect of CBG on inflammatory bowel disease was observed. The researchers induced IBD-like inflammation in the colons of mice and then administered CBG. CBG has been found to reduce inflammation and nitric oxide production. It also reduces the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the intestines.

*Bladder dysfunction – CBG has been shown to be the most effective of all cannabinoids tested. It shows a reduction in acetylcholine-induced bladder contractions. This study is a follow-up to a 2013 study that found that hemp extracts were able to reduce cramps by 19%. The mechanisms have not been fully discovered, but it has been proven that CBG works beyond cannabinoid receptors to regulate bladder function.

*Bacterial infections. A 2008 study showed that CBG and other major cannabinoids have strong anti-infective effects against the treatment-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

*Tumor. A 2014 Trusted Source study looked at colon cancer in rats and found that CBG may reduce the growth of cancer cells and other tumors.

This year’s study compared the effectiveness of CBG with CBD and THC against glioma cells.

The following conclusions were drawn: both CBG and THC (used separately) reduced cell viability to a similar extent,

the use of CBG with CBD would be more effective than the use of CBG with THC, CBG and CBD used alone or together induced cell apoptosis.

The researchers’ findings may benefit oncology patients who are concerned about the psychoactive effects of THC. Replacing it with CBG could potentially be equally effective, without causing a high.

*Loss of appetite. A 2016 study on rats Trusted Source suggested that CBG may stimulate appetite. Chemicals that stimulate appetite may be used to help people with diseases such as anorexia, HIV or cancer.
